January 76th, 2023? lol
It's actually the last day of January and I honestly feel like it flew by. It’s funny to see how many people feel and make fun of how long January feels. And indeed, it is a pretty long month I suppose. I think it might also have to do with it confronting one with what one has done or hasn't done, and were resolute on doing #newyearresolutions?
|This beet, apple, lemon + ginger juice, delish!|
It’s the first month of the year and for me, it
surely came with the many changes, realizations and learning curves, as any new
chapter and transition in life rightly ought to. I wouldn't want it any other
way, in spite of its challenges!
I believe I’ve grown more this month and came
to learn more about me than I ever imagined. Living with another human in the
most intimate of ways really does present a mirror to your life. A mirror that
reflects back not only the good in you but most strikingly, your flaws and your
sin. I’ve learned more deeply that living a “good life” doesn’t mean I am free from sin. There
are character issues, and attitudes we as humans take, which we either picked up
growing up or perhaps we learned along the way just by virtue of living in our
society. Regardless, our daily living and interactions with others have
influenced these character flaws and attitudes. And when we choose to commit to and
live with someone else, inevitably, these are exposed. And one of the
most valuable principles I’ve learned this month was, choosing love. Choosing
love over being “right” will help you move forward, even fall forward in the
hardest of times. Choosing love, is choosing to respect the other. Choosing love
is compassion and empathy. Choosing love is choosing to walk with Christ and
become more Christ-like.
We live in a world that celebrates independence and
subscribes to the ideal of putting oneself and one’s welfare first above and
over others. And although it is important to take care of oneself, the ideas above often
stem from hurt and selfishness. Radically speaking, looking at the root causes
of it all, subscribing to that lifestyle is the antithesis of love, compassion
and humility. I invite you and challenge you to think about that and delve deeply into the motives behind such a lifestyle. \Often, it's to protect oneself.\
Anywho, just a small note on love and I hope it’s fruitful to you in some
way. I hope and pray that as this new year unfolds and the responsibilities grow
and you become enthralled in the idiosyncrasies of the everyday life, that you
are able to choose to respond in love despite the /you fill in the blank\. Especially,
in your most intimate relationships. I pray you’re intentional with your time,
your relationships and the work you do.
You’re powerful, and may you feel empowered to love deeply and fully, despite the very things that might inhibit that love π€ because it's those things that teach us more about us + point us to Christ.
God bless you and yay for February ! Let’s celebrate one another
and each other in love and truth πP.S. My hubby and I started an IG page to bring you into our world and we hope it's a blessing somehow. We are still brainstorming content + things and haven't fully publicized it yet, and we haven't yet reached out to everyone, although some people have already started
following us (thanks!) But, if you
wanna follow us now, the handle is: ourglobal.love
